Thanks to the generosity of others, we sent $500 to Kenya, where my friend Ross volunteers several months a year on a farm and helps people in need in various ways.
Some of the money we donated is being used to pay school fees for a couple of children for this year.
The elderly woman in the photo (her name is Rose) is one of three elderly individuals who now have hospital insurance, thanks to our donations.
Some of the funds also went toward paying for medicine — although it’s inexpensive by our standards, it’s beyond the reach of many there.
The remaining funds were used to buy fertilizer and seeds for farmers, just as the long rains were beginning. As my friend described, supporting farmers is one of the many ways we encourage community development. By helping them grow crops, they can use part of the proceeds from the maize produced to pay for their children’s school fees.
Life is tough for them, as there are many challenges arising from poverty, as Ross shared.
A big thank you, dear friends, for your support.
Every donation, even a small one, makes a huge difference. ❤️
